Getting there

Car

If you're driving, start from the Waitomo Caves entrance, head south on Waitomo Caves Road. Continue for about 1.5 kilometers until you reach a fork. Take the left fork onto Ruakuri Road. Follow Ruakuri Road for approximately 1 kilometer, then turn left onto Ruakuri Walk. The Aranui Cave will be located a short distance down this road, with parking available nearby. Please note that there may be a small parking fee.

Public Transportation

For those using public transportation, catch a bus from the Waitomo Caves visitor center to the Ruakuri Cave area. Buses typically run several times a day, but check the local schedule for exact times. Once you disembark at the Ruakuri stop, follow the signs leading to Ruakuri Walk. It is about a 15-minute walk from the bus stop to Aranui Cave. Expect to pay a fare for the bus, usually around NZD 5-10.

Walking

If you're already in the Waitomo Caves area and prefer walking, head to the entrance of Ruakuri Road from the main Waitomo Caves attractions.
