From Greymouth, head south on State Highway 6 (SH6) towards Hokitika. Continue on SH6 for approximately 40 km until you reach the junction with State Highway 73 (SH73). Take the exit onto SH73 towards Christchurch. After about 16 km, take the exit onto State Highway 1 (SH1) heading north. Continue on SH1 for about 100 km until you reach the town of Ashburton. From Ashburton, head east on State Highway 77, and then merge onto State Highway 1 again, taking you towards Manawatū-Whanganui. Follow the signs for West in Manawatū-Whanganui. The entire journey will take around 4-5 hours depending on traffic and stops. Make sure to have cash or card ready for tolls or fuel costs along the way.
