Getting There

• Walking

  If you are starting from the Whanganui Riverfront, head north along the river on the main pathway. Continue until you reach the intersection with Victoria Avenue. At this point, turn left onto Victoria Avenue and walk until you reach the intersection with St Hill Street. Turn right onto St Hill Street and continue walking for about 1.5 kilometers. Ward Observatory is located at 121 St Hill Street, which will be on your right.

• Public Transport

  You can catch a bus from the Whanganui Bus Terminal. Look for a bus heading towards St Hill Street or a route that stops at the intersection of Victoria Avenue and St Hill Street. Once you get off at the nearest bus stop, walk south on St Hill Street for approximately 500 meters. Ward Observatory is located at 121 St Hill Street, and you will find it on your left.

• Bicycle

  If you prefer cycling, you can rent a bike from local rental shops in Whanganui. Start from the central part of the city and head towards the river. Follow the riverside path north until you reach Victoria Avenue. Turn left onto Victoria Avenue and cycle until you reach St Hill Street. Turn right onto St Hill Street and continue cycling for about 1.5 kilometers. Ward Observatory will be on your right at 121 St Hill Street.
