If you're starting from the Whanganui city center, head north on Victoria Avenue. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with Great North Road. Turn left onto Great North Road and continue walking for about 15 minutes. You will see signs for Virginia Lake Reserve on your right.

From the Whanganui city center, catch a bus that heads towards St Johns Hill. Make sure to check the current bus schedule as it may vary. Get off at the stop closest to Great North Road. From the bus stop, walk east on Great North Road for about 5 minutes, and you'll arrive at Virginia Lake Reserve.

If you have access to a bicycle, you can cycle from the city center. Take Victoria Avenue towards the north and then turn left at Great North Road. Follow Great North Road for about 1.5 kilometers until you reach Virginia Lake Reserve. There are bike racks available at the reserve for you to park your bike.
