  • Walking

    Start from the Whanganui Riverfront, which is a popular area in the city. Head south on Victoria Avenue towards the intersection with St Hill Street. Continue straight until you reach the traffic lights. At the traffic lights, turn left onto St Hill Street and walk until you reach the roundabout. At the roundabout, take the second exit onto Heads Road. Follow Heads Road until you reach the intersection with London Street. Continue straight onto London Street, which will eventually turn into Rapanui Road. Stay on Rapanui Road for approximately 3 kilometers. Westmere Lake will be on your right at 98 Rapanui Road.

  • Public Transport - Bus

    From the Whanganui City Centre, head to the nearest bus stop. You can take the bus route that goes towards the suburbs. Check the local bus schedule to find a bus that travels along Heads Road. Once on the bus, ask the driver to drop you off at the nearest stop to Rapanui Road. After getting off, walk along Rapanui Road heading towards Westmere. The lake will be on your left at 98 Rapanui Road.

    Rent a bicycle from one of the local rental shops in Whanganui. Start at the Whanganui Riverfront and cycle south along Victoria Avenue.
