Starting from the Apoyo Lagoon area, head south on the main road towards La Palmera. Follow the signs for La Palmera, and continue driving until you reach the intersection where you see signs for the Nicaragua Butterfly Reserve. Turn right at the intersection and continue for approximately 2 km. The reserve is located on the left, with the address WX7X+2JM. Look for the entrance, which is marked, and ensure you park your vehicle in the designated parking area.

From Apoyo Lagoon, you can catch a local bus heading towards La Palmera. Buses typically leave from the main road near the lagoon. Once you board the bus, ask the driver to drop you off at a stop near the Nicaragua Butterfly Reserve. The bus ride will take around 15-20 minutes depending on traffic. After getting off the bus, walk approximately 500 meters back towards the road you came from; the reserve entrance will be on your right. Be ready to pay a small fare for the bus, usually around 10-20 cordobas.
