Car
If you are driving from the city of Bluefields, head northeast on the CA-9 road towards Nueva Guinea. After approximately 2 hours of driving, you will reach the town of Esquipulas. From Esquipulas, follow the local roads to Lago Cocibolca. Punta Jesús María is located at G76J+FGG, right on the shoreline of the lake. Ensure you have a GPS or a good map, as road signage may be limited.
Public Transportation
To reach Punta Jesús María via public transport, start by taking a bus from Bluefields to Nueva Guinea. Buses depart frequently from the main bus terminal. The journey takes about 2 hours. Once you arrive in Nueva Guinea, catch a local bus or taxi towards Esquipulas. The fare is usually affordable, around 20-30 NIO. Upon reaching Esquipulas, you can either ask for directions to Lago Cocibolca or hire a local taxi to take you directly to Punta Jesús María.
Walking
If you are staying nearby in Esquipulas, you can walk to Punta Jesús María. Head towards the lake from the town center and follow the path along the shoreline. It is about a 30-minute walk, so wear comfortable shoes. The views along the way are beautiful, especially as you get closer to the lake.
