From your accommodation in Ometepe, head towards the main road that leads to the ferry terminal. If you are in Moyogalpa, walk towards the direction of the ferry dock. Once you reach the dock, take a ferry to San Jorge, which is approximately a 30-minute ride. After disembarking at San Jorge, follow the path towards the bus terminal. Here, catch a bus going to San Juan del Sur. The bus ride will take around 1 hour. Get off at the stop closest to the town center of San Juan del Sur. From the town center, you can either walk or take a local taxi to reach Fortaleza El Vigía, which is about a 15-minute walk from the center.

Bicycle
If you prefer cycling, rent a bicycle in Ometepe and ride to the ferry terminal at Moyogalpa. Take the ferry to San Jorge, then cycle to San Juan del Sur. The route from San Jorge to San Juan del Sur is approximately 20 kilometers and will take around 1 to 1.5 hours depending on your pace. Once you reach San Juan del Sur, navigate to the center and follow the previous walking instructions to get to Fortaleza El Vigía.
