From Rivas, head to the main bus terminal located on the northern edge of the city. Look for buses heading to San Juan del Sur; these should run frequently throughout the day. The journey will take approximately 30-40 minutes. Upon arrival at the San Juan del Sur bus terminal, exit the bus and head towards the main street (Calle El Centro).

Once you are on Calle El Centro, walk south towards the beach. After about 5 minutes, you will reach the beach area. Continue walking along the beach until you see the main road (Carretera San Juan del Sur). Cross the road and follow it towards the west. Keep walking for about 15-20 minutes, passing local shops and eateries until you reach the intersection of the unnamed road leading up to Fortaleza El Vigía.

Turn left onto the unnamed road and continue walking for about 10 minutes. You will begin to see signs directing you towards Fortaleza El Vigía. The fort is located a short distance ahead, situated on a hill with views over the surrounding area. As you approach, you will see the entrance to the site.
