Public Transportation
To reach Playa Maderas via public transportation, start in San Juan del Sur. You can catch a 'chicken bus' or a taxi that goes towards Playa Maderas. The bus will drop you off at the junction where the dirt road to Playa Maderas begins, which is approximately 5 kilometers outside of San Juan del Sur. From there, you will need to walk the remaining 1.5 kilometers down the dirt road to reach the beach. Make sure to check the bus schedule, as they may run less frequently in the late afternoon.
Taxi
If you prefer a more direct option, you can hire a taxi from San Juan del Sur to Playa Maderas. This will cost you around $15-$20 USD for a one-way trip. The taxi will take you directly to the beach, and you can arrange for the driver to wait for you or return at a specific time. This option is convenient if you are traveling with a group or carrying beach gear.
Walking
For the adventurous, if you are already in the vicinity of Playa Maderas, you can walk from the main road junction to the beach. The walk is about 1.5 kilometers along a dirt path, and it takes approximately 30 minutes. This option allows you to enjoy the natural scenery along the way, but be sure to wear comfortable shoes and bring water, especially in the heat.
