• Car

  If you are traveling by car, start your journey by taking the A1 highway from your current location in North Central Nigeria. Depending on your starting point, you might need to navigate through various local roads to reach the A1. Once on the A1, drive towards Bauchi. Keep an eye out for signs directing you to Yankari Game Reserve. After approximately 200 kilometers, take the exit towards Yankari Game Reserve and follow the signs for about 15 kilometers. The reserve is located near Mainamaji, and you will see the entrance clearly marked.

• Public Transport

  For those using public transportation, you can take a bus from major cities in North Central, such as Jos or Abuja, heading towards Bauchi. Look for buses marked 'Bauchi' at the designated bus terminals. The journey may take several hours, so be prepared for a long ride. Once you arrive at the Bauchi bus terminal, you can hire a taxi or a local motorbike (okada) to take you to Yankari Game Reserve. The distance from Bauchi to the reserve is about 70 kilometers, and the taxi fare may range from ₦3,000 to ₦5,000, depending on negotiation.

• Combination of Public Transport and Local Transport

  Alternatively, you could take a bus to Bauchi as mentioned earlier. Upon arrival, instead of a taxi, you might find shared taxis or 'keke' (tricycle taxis) to take you closer to the reserve. This can be a more economical option. Ensure to confirm the fare before the trip. Expect to pay around ₦1,500 to ₦3,000 for this leg of the journey. The local drivers are usually knowledgeable and can guide you to the best entrance to Yankari Game Reserve.
