If you're traveling by car, start from the main entrance of Owu Forest Reserve. Drive along the main road leading through the reserve. Look for signs directing you to Owu Waterfall. The drive to the waterfall is approximately 20 minutes, depending on road conditions. As you approach, you will see a parking area designated for visitors to the waterfall. Make sure to park your vehicle safely and follow the footpath leading to the waterfall.
Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, take a bus or shared taxi from major towns like Ilorin or Kwara to Owu Forest Reserve. Upon arrival at the reserve, you may need to hire a local motorcycle (okada) or a guide to take you to Owu Waterfall. The motorcycle ride will take about 15 minutes through the forest paths. Ensure you agree on the fare beforehand, which typically ranges from 500 to 1000 NGN, depending on negotiation. Upon reaching the designated drop-off point, follow the marked trails to reach the waterfall.
Walking
Once you are at the parking area or have been dropped off by a motorcycle, you will need to walk the remaining distance to Owu Waterfall. Follow the well-trodden path that leads through the lush forest. The walk is about 1 km and takes approximately 20-30 minutes. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes as the terrain can be uneven. As you walk, enjoy the natural beauty and listen for the sound of the waterfall growing louder as you approach.
