Local know-how to help you travel smarter and make the most of every moment.
Car
If you are traveling by car, start from your location in South South and head towards the major city of Port Harcourt. From Port Harcourt, take the East-West Road heading towards Ahoada. Continue on this road until you reach the junction at Ahoada, where you will take a left onto the Ahoada-Oke Aba Road. Follow this road for approximately 45 kilometers until you reach Oke Aba. The Owu Waterfall is approximately 5 km from the village center of Oke Aba. Look for signposts or ask locals for directions to the waterfall.
Public Transportation
To reach Owu Waterfall via public transport, you can take a bus from any major city in South South to Port Harcourt. Once in Port Harcourt, find a bus station that provides services to Ahoada. After arriving in Ahoada, you will need to take a motorcycle taxi (okada) to Oke Aba, which is about 45 kilometers away. Inform the rider that you want to go to Owu Waterfall, and they will take you as close as possible. You may need to ask locals for the best drop-off point if the motorcycle cannot take you directly to the waterfall. Be prepared for additional costs for the motorcycle ride.
Combination of Car and Hiking
If you prefer a more adventurous route, drive to Oke Aba and park your car safely in the village. From there, you can hike to Owu Waterfall. The trail may not be well marked, so it's advisable to ask locals for the best route. The hike will take you through beautiful landscapes and may take around 30 minutes to an hour, depending on your pace. Ensure you wear comfortable shoes and carry enough water for the hike.
