Getting There

• Car

  If you're driving from downtown Asheville, head southwest on Patton Avenue (US-64) for approximately 4 miles. Merge onto I-26 W toward Asheville. After about 1 mile, take exit 40 for US-25 N/US-74A N toward Weaverville. Continue on US-25 N for about 2 miles, then take the exit toward NC-191 S. Merge onto NC-191 S and continue for about 3 miles. Turn left onto Frederick Law Olmsted Way, and you will find The North Carolina Arboretum at 100 Frederick Law Olmsted Way. There is a parking fee of $16 per vehicle.

• Public Transportation

  To reach The North Carolina Arboretum via public transportation, start by taking the Asheville Transit bus number 1 (Blue Line) from downtown Asheville. Ride the bus until you reach the stop at the Asheville Outlets. From there, you can take a taxi or a rideshare service like Uber or Lyft for the remaining 4 miles to the Arboretum, which is located at 100 Frederick Law Olmsted Way. Be prepared for a taxi fare of approximately $10-$15 for this short ride.

• Bicycle

  For those who enjoy cycling, you can ride from downtown Asheville to The North Carolina Arboretum. Start on the River Arts District Trail, which connects to the French Broad River Greenway. Follow the greenway until you reach the intersection with NC-191. Take a left onto NC-191 S and continue for about 4 miles, then turn left onto Frederick Law Olmsted Way. The Arboretum has bike racks for you to secure your bike while you explore. Always wear a helmet and follow local traffic laws.
