Walking
Starting from downtown Boone, head east on King Street. Walk for about 0.5 miles until you reach the intersection with US-321. At this intersection, turn left onto US-321 N. Continue walking for approximately 1 mile until you reach the intersection with NC-105. Here, you will find a bus stop for the AppalCart. Board the AppalCart bus that is heading towards the 'Campus' route.
Bus
Stay on the AppalCart for several stops until you reach the stop for 'Watauga County Library.' Disembark here. From the library, head east on NC-105 for about 0.5 miles until you reach the entrance to Howard Knob Trail. The trailhead is located on the left side of the road.
Hiking
Once at the Howard Knob Trailhead, follow the trail for approximately 1 mile. The trail is well-marked and will lead you to the summit of Howard Knob. Enjoy the scenic views from the top!
