Getting There

• Car

  From any location in Foothills, head towards Bryson City, NC. You can use Highway 74 (US-74) to reach Bryson City. Once in Bryson City, follow the signs for the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Take US-441 N (Newfound Gap Road) towards the park entrance. Continue on this road for approximately 16 miles until you reach the Clingmans Dome Road entrance. Follow Clingmans Dome Road for about 7 miles until you reach the Clingmans Dome Trailhead parking area. Note that there is no fee to park at Clingmans Dome Trailhead.

• Public Transportation

  Public transportation options are limited in the Foothills region. However, you can use a rideshare service like Uber or Lyft from Bryson City to the Clingmans Dome Trailhead. Alternatively, you can take a bus from major cities nearby to Bryson City and arrange for a taxi or rideshare service to the trailhead. Be prepared for additional costs associated with rideshare services, which can vary based on distance and time of day.

  If you prefer to bike, you can ride from Bryson City to the Clingmans Dome Trailhead. Take the same route via US-441 N.
