Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car, head south on NC-43 S from any location in Foothills. Continue on NC-43 S for approximately 20 miles, then merge onto US-70 E. After about 5 miles, take the exit toward New Bern. Follow the signs for US-17 S and merge onto US-17 S. After about 10 miles, take the exit for US-70 E toward New Bern. Continue on US-70 E for about 5 miles. Take the exit toward New Bern and merge onto S. Front St. Tryon Palace will be on your left at 529 S Front St, New Bern, NC 28562. There is usually free parking available nearby, but check local signage for any restrictions.

• Public Transportation

  For those using public transportation, you can take a Greyhound bus to New Bern from various locations in North Carolina. Once you arrive at the New Bern Greyhound station, you can take a local taxi or ride-sharing service like Uber or Lyft to Tryon Palace, which is approximately 2 miles away. The taxi or ride-sharing fare should be around $10 to $15. Alternatively, check the local bus service for the best routes; you may need to transfer at the downtown bus station to reach your destination.

From Foothills, head south on local roads that lead to the Neuse River. Follow the river trail toward New Bern until you reach S Front St. Tryon Palace is located at 529 S Front St, approximately a 10-mile bike ride.
