Getting There

• Walking

  Starting from the historic downtown area of New Bern, head south on Middle Street. Continue walking until you reach Pollock Street, which is approximately a 5-10 minute walk. Turn right onto Pollock Street and walk for about 10 minutes. You will pass several charming shops and restaurants along the way. De Bretigny Historical Marker is located at 1010 Pollock St, on your left-hand side, close to the intersection with Broad Street.

• Bicycling

  If you have access to a bicycle, you can start from the New Bern Riverfront Convention Center. Head north on S Front Street until you reach Middle Street. Turn left onto Middle Street and then right onto Pollock Street. Continue on Pollock Street until you reach 1010 Pollock St, where the De Bretigny Historical Marker is located. This route is approximately 1.5 miles and should take around 10-15 minutes.

• Public Transit

  While public transit options in New Bern are limited, you can check if there are any local buses that head towards Pollock Street. If you find a bus that runs along Broad Street, you can get off at the nearest stop and walk south on Pollock Street for a block to reach 1010 Pollock St, where De Bretigny Historical Marker is located. It’s advisable to check the local transit schedule ahead of time for the most accurate route.
