Car
If you are driving from the northern parts of the Outer Banks, head south on NC-12. Continue on NC-12 for approximately 30 miles. You will pass through several coastal towns including Duck, Corolla, and Hatteras. As you approach Rodanthe, look for signs directing you to Pea Island National Wildlife Refuge. The entrance is located just south of Rodanthe, and you will find parking available at the beach access points.
Public Transportation
Currently, public transportation options are limited in the Outer Banks. However, you can check with local shuttle services or taxi companies that operate in the area. If you take a taxi from nearby towns like Nags Head or Hatteras, provide the driver with the destination: 'Pea Island Beach, Rodanthe, NC 27968.' Be prepared for a fare that could range from $30 to $60 depending on your starting location.
Bicycle
For the more adventurous, biking is also an option. If you have a bicycle, you can ride along the scenic NC-12.
