Car
If you're driving from Pisgah National Forest, start by heading east on US-276 S. Continue for about 15 miles until you reach the intersection with I-40 E. Merge onto I-40 E and follow it for approximately 20 miles. Take exit 64 for US-70 W toward Black Mountain. Continue on US-70 W for about 5 miles until you reach Black Mountain. Once in Black Mountain, turn left onto W State St. The Swannanoa Valley Museum & History Center will be located on your right at 223 W State St, Black Mountain, NC 28711.

Currently, there are limited public transportation options directly within Pisgah National Forest. However, if you are near Asheville, you can take the Asheville Transit bus (Route 170) towards Black Mountain. Once you arrive in Black Mountain, you will need to walk approximately 0.5 miles to reach the Swannanoa Valley Museum & History Center. Head northwest on State St, which will take you directly to the museum located at 223 W State St, Black Mountain, NC 28711.
