Take exit 24 for US-85 N toward Medora. After 15 miles, take a left onto ND-16 W. Follow ND-16 W for about 5 miles to reach Dakota Prairie Grasslands. The grasslands are located near Medora, ND 58645.

    While public transportation options are limited in rural North Dakota, you can take the Amtrak train to the nearest station in Williston, ND. From there, you will need to rent a car to reach Dakota Prairie Grasslands. Drive south on US-85 for approximately 70 miles to reach Medora. Once in Medora, follow ND-16 W for about 5 miles to get to the grasslands.

  • Bicycle

    For the adventurous cyclist, you can bike from Badlands National Park. Follow SD-240 W to connect to I-90 W. It's approximately a 50-mile ride to the US-85 N junction. Be sure to ride with caution, as parts of the route may have heavy traffic. Once on US-85 N, continue until you reach ND-16 W, which will lead you to Dakota Prairie Grasslands after about 5 miles.
