Walking
If you are in downtown Mandan, start at the Mandan City Hall located at 205 2nd Ave NW. Head west on 2nd Ave NW toward 3rd St NW. Turn left onto 3rd St NW and continue to the intersection with Main St. Cross Main St and continue on 3rd St NW, which becomes 2nd St NW. This road will lead you directly to the Missouri River. Follow the path along the river until you reach the intersection with 28th Ave SW. Turn left onto 28th Ave SW and continue until you reach Fort Mandan State Historic Site at 838 28th Ave SW. The site is located on the left side of the road.

Bicycling
Start at the Mandan Park and Ride located at 1001 12th Ave NW. Head south on 12th Ave NW, which will connect you to Memorial Highway. Follow Memorial Highway until you reach the bridge over the Missouri River. Cross the bridge and immediately turn right onto 28th Ave SW. Continue on 28th Ave SW for about 4 miles until you see the signs for Fort Mandan State Historic Site. The entrance will be on your right.
