If you are traveling by car, start from the nearest town, Lisbon, ND. Head south on Main St toward 6th Ave S for about 0.5 miles. Then, take a left onto ND-27 E and continue for approximately 15 miles. You will see signs for Sheyenne National Grassland. Follow the signs into the grassland area. Once you pass the entrance, continue on the main road until you reach the West Trail Head. Look for a parking area on your left. The total drive should take around 30 minutes.

Public transportation options are limited in this rural area. Your best bet is to take a bus to Lisbon, ND. From Lisbon, you will need to arrange a taxi service to get to Sheyenne National Grassland. There may be local taxi services available; however, it is recommended to book in advance as they may not be readily available. The taxi ride from Lisbon to the West Trail Head will take approximately 20-30 minutes, depending on traffic.

If you are already within Sheyenne National Grassland, follow the established trails leading to the West Trail Head. Look for trail markers indicating direction toward the West Trail.
