Starting from the Williston city center, head east on 2nd Ave E toward 4th St E. Continue straight to merge onto US-2 E. Follow US-2 for approximately 3 miles until you reach the intersection with ND-1804. Take the exit toward ND-1804 N and merge onto ND-1804. Continue on ND-1804 for about 12 miles. The Fort Union Trading Post National Historic Site will be on your right at 15550 ND-1804. Look for the signage indicating the site as you approach.

From the center of Williston, walk to the nearest bus stop and take the bus heading toward the Williston Municipal Airport. After about 20 minutes on the bus, get off at the stop for US-2 E. Once you exit, walk east on US-2 for about 3 miles until you reach ND-1804. Follow ND-1804 for another 12 miles on foot. The Fort Union Trading Post National Historic Site will be located on your right at 15550 ND-1804. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes and bring water for the walk.
