If you are driving, start from Kristiansand, which is a central location in Agder. Take E39 north towards Mandal. After about 40 kilometers, take the exit for Route 9 to Setesdal. Continue on Route 9 for approximately 25 kilometers until you reach the town of Hornnes. In Hornnes, look for signs directing you to Abusdalknuten. You will find parking areas near the trailhead, which is located at 4737 Hornnes. The total driving distance from Kristiansand is about 65 kilometers and will take around 1 hour.

To reach Abusdalknuten using public transport, start at Kristiansand Bus Station. Take the bus to Byglandsfjord, operated by Agder Kollektivtrafikk. The bus ride will take approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes. From Byglandsfjord, you will need to take a local taxi to Hornnes, as there are no direct bus services to Hornnes. The taxi ride will take around 15 minutes and may cost approximately 200-300 NOK. Once in Hornnes, head towards the trailhead for Abusdalknuten, located at 4737 Hornnes.
