From Witches to Trolls Bergens Crime and Myth Walk

Where history meets myth and folklore in Bergen!

If you think a bit of Bergen rain will ruin this tour, think again—it actually sets the perfect, eerie mood. Here is why this tour is an absolute must-do, rain or shine: • Atmospheric Storytelling: The guide was fantastic—equal parts historian and master storyteller. Hearing the grim tales of the 17th-century witch trials (including the tragic story of Anne Pedersdotter) while standing on the very ground where it happened gave us genuine chills. • True Crime Meets Folklore: The blend of history and myth is spot on. You get the dark, historical reality of Bergen’s medieval crimes, fires, and executions seamlessly woven together with tales of mischievous troll lore. • Embracing the Elements: The rain honestly made the experience better. Wrapped in a rain jacket, watching the wet cobblestones glisten under dim streetlights added an extra layer of mystery that a bright, sunny day just couldn't replicate. Pro Tip: Wear good waterproof boots, grab a sturdy umbrella, and embrace the weather. Bergen's darker history is best served wet!
