If you are traveling by car, start your journey from Oslo. Take the E6 highway northbound. After about 2 hours, take exit 104 for E16 toward Fagernes/Laerdal. Continue on E16 for approximately 90 kilometers. When you reach Laerdal, take the ferry from Laerdal to Oppedal (note: ferry costs around NOK 100-200 per vehicle). After disembarking, follow the signs to Sogndal and then take the road toward Ornes. Follow the signs for Urnes Stave Church. The church is located at 6870 Ornes.

To reach Urnes Stave Church using public transportation, take a train from Oslo to Flåm or Sogndal. From Oslo, the train journey will take about 5-6 hours. Once in Flåm or Sogndal, you will need to take a local bus or taxi to reach Ornes. The bus service is limited, so it’s advisable to check the schedule in advance. From Sogndal, it's approximately a 1-hour bus ride to Ornes. The bus fare is typically around NOK 50-100. After arriving in Ornes, follow the signs to Urnes Stave Church, which is approximately a 10-minute walk from the bus stop.
