Car
If you are travelling by car in Finnmark, head towards Nordkapp. Make your way to E69 highway, which will lead you directly to the Cave of Lights. From the city of Alta, take the E6 highway heading north until you reach the junction for E69. Follow E69 for approximately 120 km. You will see signs for Nordkapp. The Cave of Lights is located at North Cape, E69, 9764 Nordkapp. There is a parking area nearby, where you can park your car before heading to the attraction.
Public Transportation
Using public transportation, you can take a bus from Alta to Honningsvåg, which is the nearest town to the Cave of Lights. Check the bus schedules for routes operated by Nordland fylkeskommune and Troms og Finnmark fylkeskommune. After arriving in Honningsvåg, you can take a local taxi or shuttle service to reach the Cave of Lights, which is approximately 30 km away. Be prepared for potential costs: the bus fare may range from 200 to 400 NOK depending on the season, and the taxi from Honningsvåg to the Cave of Lights may cost around 600 to 800 NOK.
Guided Tour
Consider joining a guided tour that includes transportation to the Cave of Lights. Many tour companies in Finnmark offer packages that include transport from major towns like Alta or Honningsvåg. These tours typically provide an informative experience about the area and may include additional stops at scenic viewpoints.
