If you are driving, start by entering the main road E39 from any location in Lysefjord. Follow the signs towards Forsand. Once you reach Forsand, turn onto the road towards Preikestolen. The drive takes approximately 30-40 minutes from Forsand. You will find a designated parking area at the Preikestolen parking lot, which is a paid facility (approximately NOK 200 for the day). From the parking lot, you will need to hike for about 1.5 to 2 hours to reach Preikestolen, with well-marked trails.

Public Transportation
For those using public transport, you can take a ferry from Stavanger to Tau. The ferry operates regularly and takes about 40 minutes. Once you arrive in Tau, you can catch a bus (Line 100) that will take you directly to Preikestolen. The bus ride takes around 30 minutes. Please note that you will need to pay for both the ferry (approximately NOK 80-120) and the bus fare (approximately NOK 50-70). After arriving at the bus stop near the Preikestolen parking lot, you will have to hike for about 1.5 to 2 hours to reach the viewpoint.
