Getting There

• Car

  If you are driving to Visit Kjerag, start from Lysebotn, which is a small village at the end of Lysefjord. From Lysebotn, head onto Lysevegen (Road 475). The drive will take approximately 30 minutes along scenic routes with stunning views of the fjord. Please note that this road may be narrow and winding, so drive cautiously. Look for signs directing you to Kjerag. After about 15 km, you will reach the Kjerag parking area. Parking fees may apply, typically around 100 NOK. Make sure to have cash or a credit card ready.

• Public Transportation

  To reach Visit Kjerag using public transport, you can take a bus from Stavanger to Lysebotn. The bus ride takes around 2 hours and requires a transfer at Forsand. Please check the bus schedules in advance, as they may be limited. Once you arrive in Lysebotn, you will need to take a taxi or arrange for a shuttle service to get to the Kjerag trailhead, which is approximately 15 km away from the village. Taxi fares can vary but expect to pay around 300-400 NOK for the ride. Make sure to book your return trip as well, as taxi services may not be readily available.

• Hiking

  If you are adventurous and prefer hiking, you can start your trek from the Kjerag parking area. The hike to Kjeragbolten (the famous boulder) takes about 2-3 hours one way, depending on your fitness level. The trail is well-marked but can be steep and challenging in places. Ensure you wear appropriate hiking gear, carry sufficient water, and check the weather conditions before starting your hike. It's also advisable to start early in the day to allow ample time for your return trip.
