Car
If you are traveling by car, start your journey from the nearest major city, Steinkjer. Head north on E6 for approximately 67 kilometers until you reach the exit for Høylandet (Road 760). Take this exit and continue on Road 760 for approximately 12 kilometers. Soon, you will reach Stakkmyrvegen. Turn left onto Stakkmyrvegen, and follow it for about 3 kilometers. Grungstadfossen will be on your right. Parking is available near the waterfall.
Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, take a train from Trondheim to Steinkjer. From Steinkjer, you can catch a bus heading towards Høylandet. The bus ride will take approximately 1 hour. Once you arrive in Høylandet, you may need to arrange for a taxi to take you to Grungstadfossen, as public transport options may be limited in the immediate area. Make sure to check the bus schedules in advance, as they may not run frequently.
Walking
If you are already in Høylandet and prefer to walk, Grungstadfossen is approximately 10 kilometers from the town center. Head northwest on Road 760, then turn onto Stakkmyrvegen. The walk will take around 2 hours, so be prepared with water and snacks. The scenery along the way is beautiful, making for a pleasant hike.
