Car
If you are traveling by car, start by heading to the town of Lom, which is located in Oppland. From the center of Lom, take Route 55 towards Galdhøpiggen. Follow the signs for the Galdhøpiggen summer mountain road. The road will lead you to the Juvasshytta, which is the main starting point for hiking to Galdhøpiggen. There is parking available at Juvasshytta, but be aware that there may be a parking fee (approximately NOK 100-200). The drive from Lom to Juvasshytta takes around 30 minutes.
Public Transportation
To reach Galdhøpiggen using public transportation, take a bus from Oslo or Lillehammer to Lom. Once in Lom, you can catch a local bus that operates during the summer months to Juvasshytta. The bus ride may take about 30-45 minutes. Be sure to check the local bus schedules in advance, as they can vary. The cost of the bus ticket from Lom to Juvasshytta is around NOK 50-100. Note that the bus service may only be available during the summer season, so plan accordingly.
Hiking
From Juvasshytta, you can start your hike to Galdhøpiggen. The route is well-marked and is approximately a 2.5 to 3-hour hike to the summit, depending on your pace. Ensure you have appropriate hiking gear, as the terrain can be challenging. Guided tours may also be available for an additional cost if you prefer a more organized approach.
