If you are driving from anywhere in Oppland, you will want to take the E6 highway towards Oslo. The journey will take approximately 2 hours depending on traffic. Follow signs for Oslo and keep an eye out for the exit that leads to the city center. Once you approach Oslo, take the exit for Slottsplassen, which will lead you directly to the Royal Palace. There is limited parking available near the palace, so be prepared for parking fees which can range from NOK 20 to 50 per hour.

Start by taking a train from any station in Oppland that connects to the Oslo central railway system. For example, if you are in Lillehammer, take the train to Oslo S (Oslo Central Station). The train journey will take about 1.5 to 2 hours. Upon arriving at Oslo S, exit the station and walk towards the bus terminal or catch tram number 12 towards Majorstuen. Get off at the Nationaltheatret stop, which is a short walk from the Royal Palace.
