Getting There

  • Public Transport

    If you are starting from Oslo Central Station (Oslo S), exit the station and head towards the main street, Karl Johans gate. Walk straight along Karl Johans gate for about 10 minutes. You will pass by the National Theatre and the University of Oslo. Continue until you reach the Oslo Cathedral (Oslo Domkirke). The Christian IV statue is located directly opposite the Oslo Cathedral. You will recognize it by the bronze statue of King Christian IV on a pedestal.

  • Walking

    If you are at Aker Brygge, a popular waterfront area, you can walk to the Christian IV statue. Head east along the waterfront promenade towards the City Hall (Rådhuset). Once you reach the City Hall, continue walking towards Karl Johans gate. Turn left onto Karl Johans gate and walk straight until you reach Oslo Cathedral. The statue is right in front of the cathedral.

    If you are near the National Gallery, you can take tram line 12 or 13 from the nearest tram stop (National Gallery) towards Majorstuen. Get off at the stop called Stortorvet.
