A Glimpse of Oslo's Cultural Heart: Outside Former Deichmanske

Getting There

• Public Transport - Tram

  If you're starting from Oslo Central Station (Oslo S), exit the station and find the tram stop located just outside. Take tram number 11, 12, or 18 heading towards Majorstuen. Stay on the tram for about 8 stops, and get off at the stop called 'Schous Plass'. From the tram stop, walk down the hill towards the large park area. Continue straight, and you will see Outside Former Deichmanske located in Grünerløkka, a vibrant neighborhood known for its arts and culture.

• Public Transport - Bus

  From Oslo Central Station, walk to the nearby bus terminal. Take bus number 37 or 54 towards 'Munkegata'. After 4 stops, get off at 'Grünerløkka' stop. Once you exit the bus, head straight down the street; Outside Former Deichmanske will be on your left as you approach the park area.

• Walking

  If you prefer to walk, start from Oslo Central Station, head north on Karl Johans gate until you reach the intersection at Stortorvet. Continue straight into Bislett, and then turn left onto Bislettgata. Follow this street until you reach the Grünerløkka area. The walk will take approximately 30 minutes, but you’ll pass various shops and cafes along the way. Once in Grünerløkka, look for signs pointing towards Outside Former Deichmanske, which is in the vicinity of the large park.

• Bicycle

  Rent a bicycle from one of the many rental stations in Oslo, particularly near the Central Station. Head towards the bike path along the Akerselva River, which is a scenic route. Follow the bike path until you reach Grünerløkka. Once in the neighborhood, navigate towards the park area where Outside Former Deichmanske is located. This route will take about 15-20 minutes and offers beautiful views along the river.
