Car
If you are traveling by car, head towards Halden. From Oslo, take the E6 southbound until you reach the exit for E18 towards Drammen. Continue on E18 until you reach the exit for E6 towards Halden. Follow E6 until you reach Halden. Once in Halden, follow signs for 'Fredriksten' and take the road leading to Indre Festning. The museum is located at Indre Festning 21, Halden. There is parking available near the museum, which is free of charge.
Train and Walk
For those using public transportation, take a train from Oslo to Halden. The journey takes approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes. Once you arrive at Halden train station, exit the station and head towards the bus stop outside. You can take bus 100 towards 'Svenner' or bus 101 towards 'Halden sentrum'. Get off at the 'Fredriksten' stop. From there, it's a short walk of approximately 10-15 minutes to Fredriksten Museum, located at Indre Festning 21. Follow the signs leading to the fortress.
Bus
If you are already in Østfold and want to take a bus, check the local bus schedules for routes heading to Halden. Buses from cities like Moss or Sarpsborg frequently connect to Halden. Once you arrive at the Halden bus station, you can walk or take a short taxi ride to Indre Festning 21. The walk will take about 20 minutes.
