If you're traveling by car, head towards Aremark. From the center of Halden, drive north on E6 for about 25 kilometers. Take the exit towards Rakkestadveien and continue on this road for approximately 10 kilometers. Look for signs directing you to Strømsfoss sluse. The exact address is Rakkestadveien, 1798 Aremark. Parking is available near the sluse.
Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, take a train from Oslo to Halden. Once in Halden, transfer to bus line 101 towards Aremark. Get off at the stop named 'Strømsfoss'. From there, it's about a 15-minute walk to Strømsfoss sluse. Be sure to check the bus schedules in advance, as service may be limited. As of my last update, a one-way ticket from Oslo to Halden costs approximately NOK 200-300.
Bicycle
If you're feeling adventurous, consider cycling from Halden to Strømsfoss sluse. The route is approximately 30 kilometers and takes you through beautiful Norwegian countryside. Start from Halden and follow the cycling paths along Rakkestadveien, which will lead you directly to the sluse. Ensure your bicycle is in good condition and carry enough water and snacks for the journey.
