Getting There

• Car

  If you're driving from anywhere in Østlandet, head towards Oslo. Use the E6 motorway, which is the main route to the city. Take exit 3 towards 'Oslo sentrum' and follow the signs for 'Sentrum'. Once in the city center, you can find parking options nearby. The closest parking facility is at 'Aker Brygge', just a 10-minute walk from Akershus Fortress.

• Public Transportation

  If traveling by public transport, take a train to Oslo Central Station (Oslo S). From the station, you can catch tram number 12 or bus number 54 towards 'Aker Brygge'. Get off at 'Aker Brygge' stop. From there, it's a short 10-minute walk to Akershus Fortress. Alternatively, you can also walk directly from the central station, which will take approximately 20 minutes.

• Walking

  For those already in the city center, Akershus Fortress is easily accessible on foot. From Karl Johans gate, the main street in Oslo, head towards the harbor. Follow the signs towards 'Rådhuset' (City Hall) and then continue walking towards the waterfront. The fortress is located on the hill, and you will see its impressive structure as you approach.

• Bicycle

  If you prefer cycling, Oslo has a bike-sharing program called 'Oslo Bysykkel'. You can rent a bike from various stations around the city. Head towards the waterfront and follow the bike lanes to Akershus Fortress. There are bike racks available near the fortress for parking.
