Car
If you are traveling by car, start from the center of Preikestolen and head south on the road towards Songesand. Follow signs for 'Preikestolen' and continue until you reach the Preikestolen parking lot. The GPS coordinates for the parking area are approximately 58.9877009, 6.1905082. There is a parking fee of around 200 NOK for the day. Once parked, follow the marked hiking trail that leads to Prædikestolen, which is about a 1.5 to 2-hour hike.
Public Transportation
If you prefer public transportation, take a bus from Stavanger to Tau, which runs regularly throughout the day. Once you arrive in Tau, transfer to a ferry that will take you to Songesand. After disembarking, you can walk to the Preikestolen parking area where the hiking trail begins. Be sure to check the ferry schedules in advance as they may vary seasonally. The total cost for the bus and ferry combined is approximately 250-350 NOK.
Hiking
For those who are already at the Preikestolen parking area, prepare for the hike to Prædikestolen. The trail is well-marked and takes about 1.5 to 2 hours to reach the top. The hike is approximately 3.8 kilometers one way, with a significant elevation gain. Make sure to wear appropriate footwear and bring water, especially during the warmer months.
