Getting There

• Car

  To reach Sognefjord by car, start from the city of Bergen, which is about 200 kilometers away. Take the E39 highway towards Førde. After approximately 150 kilometers, take the exit towards Sogndal (Route 55). Continue along Route 55 until you reach Sogndal, where you can find various viewpoints of Sognefjord. The drive takes roughly 3 to 4 hours, depending on traffic and weather conditions. Please note that you may need to pay tolls on the E39.

• Public Transportation (Bus)

  From Bergen, you can take a bus to Sogndal. Look for the bus service 'Fjordekspressen' which connects Bergen to Sogndal. The journey takes about 5 hours and costs approximately 400 NOK. Once in Sogndal, you can explore Sognefjord by foot or take a local taxi to various viewing points along the fjord.

• Public Transportation (Train and Bus)

  Another option is to take a train from Bergen to Myrdal. The train journey takes about 2.5 hours and offers stunning views. From Myrdal, take the Flåm Railway to Flåm (a 1 hour journey). From Flåm, you can catch a bus to Sogndal, which takes another hour. This combination of train and bus offers a unique scenic route and costs around 600 NOK in total.

• Ferry

  If you're in the vicinity of the fjord, consider taking a ferry to experience Sognefjord directly. There are several ferry services that operate within the fjord, including connections from Flåm to Gudvangen. The ferry ride offers incredible views and costs around 300 NOK for a one-way trip. Make sure to check the ferry schedules in advance, as they can vary by season.
