Car
If you are starting your journey in Bergen, take the E39 highway heading towards Førde. After about 120 km, take the exit towards Route 5 towards Sandeim/Matre. Continue on Route 5 for approximately 25 km until you reach Matre. Follow the signs for Matrefjorden once you enter the area.

Public Transportation
From Bergen, take a bus from the Bergen Bus Station to Førde. The bus ride takes about 2.5 hours. Once in Førde, transfer to a local bus heading to Sandeim. This bus ride will take you around 30 minutes. Get off at the stop for Matre (make sure to check the schedule in advance as it may not run frequently). From the bus stop in Matre, it is a short walk to Matrefjorden.

If you prefer a more direct route, you can take a taxi from either Førde or Bergen. This option is more expensive, costing approximately 1,500 to 2,000 NOK from Bergen and around 600 to 800 NOK from Førde. Make sure to agree on the fare with the driver beforehand.

For the adventurous, biking to Matrefjorden is an option. From Bergen, you can follow the scenic coastal route along the E39 and then take Route 5.
