If you're starting from the Akron Civic Theatre, exit the theatre and head west on W Market St toward S Main St. Walk for about 0.3 miles (approximately 6-7 minutes). As you walk, you will pass various shops and restaurants, which could be a nice opportunity to explore. Continue straight until you reach S Main St, then turn right. After about 0.1 miles, you will see the entrance to the University of Akron on your left. Continue walking into the university's campus.

Once you're on the University of Akron campus, follow the signs toward Fir Hill. You will need to walk through the campus, and as you approach the Fir Hill area, you will notice Hower House is located at 60 Fir Hill, which is a historic house museum. It should be directly ahead in approximately a 10-minute walk from the university's entrance.

If you prefer to take public transit, you can catch the METRO RTA bus service. The closest bus stop to Downtown Akron is the Main St & Market St stop. From there, you can take the 'Green Line' bus towards Akron. Make sure to check the bus schedule for the exact times. After about 10 minutes, get off at the stop closest to the University of Akron. From the bus stop, it’s about a 5-minute walk to Hower House, following the walking directions given above.
