If you are in downtown Marietta, start at the intersection of Front Street and Putnam Street. Head east on Front Street until you reach the intersection with the Muskingum River. Continue walking along the riverfront until you reach the confluence of the Ohio and Muskingum Rivers. From there, follow the riverbank trail south for approximately 1 mile. Look for signs pointing towards Kroger Wetlands as you approach. The wetlands entrance will be on your left. The walk should take about 20-30 minutes.
Biking
For those who prefer biking, begin at the Marietta River Trail, which starts near the Ohio River Museum. Ride along the trail heading south towards the Kroger Wetlands. Follow the path as it runs parallel to the river until you reach the wetlands. Keep an eye out for signage directing you towards the entrance. This route is approximately 1.5 miles and should take around 10-15 minutes by bike.
Public Transportation
Currently, public transportation options in Marietta are limited. However, you can take a local bus to the nearest stop at the Marietta College Campus. From there, it's about a 15-minute walk. Head south from the campus towards the river, then follow the riverfront path as described above. If no buses are available, consider using a rideshare service to get closer to the wetlands.
