From the center of Wayne National Forest, head southeast on OH-93 S. Continue for about 12 miles until you reach the intersection with Hope-Moonville Rd. Turn left onto Hope-Moonville Rd. After approximately 3 miles, you will arrive at the Moonville Tunnel, which will be on your right. There is a small parking area available for visitors.
Public Transportation
Unfortunately, public transportation options are quite limited in this rural area. If you are relying on public transport, your best option is to take a bus from a nearby city like Athens, Ohio, to McArthur. From McArthur, you will need to arrange for a taxi or rideshare service to reach Moonville Tunnel, which is about 5 miles away. Make sure to check local bus schedules for availability and routes.
Biking or Walking
For those who enjoy biking or hiking, you can access the Moonville Rail Trail. If you're already in the vicinity of the trail, head towards the entrance located off Hope-Moonville Rd.
