Car
If you're traveling by car, start in the main tourist area of Lake Texoma. Head south on US-377 S towards the town of Mead. After about 10 miles, take the exit for OK-70 E towards Madill. Continue on OK-70 E for about 4 miles. Then, turn left onto Johnson Rd. After approximately 1 mile, you will see the entrance to Johnson Creek Campgrounds on your left at 215 Johnson Rd, Mead, OK 73449. There is no entrance fee for the campground, but be sure to check for any camping fees on the Recreation.gov website.
Public Transportation
Public transportation options are limited in the Lake Texoma area. If you are relying on public transit, your best option is to take a bus to Denison, Texas, which is about 20 miles away from Lake Texoma. From Denison, you may need to arrange for a taxi or rideshare service to reach Johnson Creek Campgrounds. Be aware that this could incur additional costs, typically around $25-$35 for a taxi ride, depending on traffic and demand.
