Getting There

• Car

  If you are driving from any location in Lake Texoma, head south on US-377 towards Kingston. Continue on US-377 until you reach I-35 N. Merge onto I-35 N and continue for approximately 20 miles. Take exit 108 for OK-9 W toward Newcastle. Follow OK-9 W for about 15 miles until you reach the exit for Norman. Once in Norman, follow signs for Lake Thunderbird. Keep an eye out for Lake Thunderbird State Park signs, which will guide you directly to the lake.

• Public Transportation

  Public transportation options may be limited in rural areas like Lake Texoma. You can check for any local bus services that operate from nearby towns to Norman, Oklahoma. Once you arrive in Norman, you will need to use a rideshare service (like Uber or Lyft) or a taxi to reach Lake Thunderbird. Expect to pay around $15-$25 for a rideshare from downtown Norman to the lake, depending on traffic.

• Bicycle

  For the more adventurous, biking is an option if you are staying in Norman. You can rent a bicycle and take the bike lanes along Lindsay Street toward the lake. The distance is roughly 10 miles, and it will take about an hour to reach Lake Thunderbird. Make sure to wear appropriate gear and bring plenty of water.

• Walking

  Walking to Lake Thunderbird is not recommended due to the distance from Norman (approximately 10 miles) and the lack of pedestrian paths along the highway. However, if you are in a nearby neighborhood, you could walk part of the way to the lake, but it is advisable to arrange transportation for the longer stretches.
