Car Rental
If you are in Salalah, the capital of Dhofar Governorate, renting a car is one of the best options. Head east on Sultan Qaboos Street (the main road in Salalah) towards the airport. Continue for about 8 km until you reach the intersection with the road to Mirbat. Take a right turn onto the Mirbat road (Route 31) and follow it for approximately 25 km. Look for signs indicating Wadi Ghair as you approach the Unnamed Road (553F+V9W). The wadi is located a short distance off this road. Make sure your rental car is suitable for rough terrains, as some parts may not be fully paved.
Public Transportation
You can take a local bus from Salalah bus station to Mirbat. The bus will cost around 2 Omani Rials and takes about 30-45 minutes. From Mirbat, you will need to hire a taxi or arrange for a local guide to take you to Wadi Ghair, as public transport does not extend directly to the wadi. Expect to pay around 10-15 Omani Rials for the taxi ride. Make sure to negotiate the fare beforehand.
Local Guide Service
For a more immersive experience, consider hiring a local guide. Many tour operators in Salalah offer day trips to Wadi Ghair, which include transportation from your hotel. This option typically costs around 30-50 Omani Rials per person, depending on the package. This not only covers the transportation but also provides insights into the area’s natural beauty and cultural significance.
