Getting there

Car

If you are traveling by car in Wahiba Sands, start from the nearest major town, Al Wasil. Head southeast on Route 23 towards Al Jumaylah. After approximately 30 kilometers, you will reach a dirt road leading to Pink Lake ( البحيرة الوردية ). Keep an eye out for the signs indicating the lake, as it is a popular tourist destination. The last 5 kilometers will be on a sand track, so be cautious and drive slowly. Parking is available nearby the lake.

Public Transportation

For those using public transportation, you can take a bus or shared taxi from Muscat to Al Wasil. Once you arrive in Al Wasil, you may need to hire a local taxi to reach Pink Lake. The taxi ride will take about 30 minutes. Make sure to negotiate the fare beforehand, as taxis may not have meters. Expect to pay around 10-15 OMR for the trip, depending on your negotiation skills.

Walking/Exploring

After arriving at Pink Lake, you can explore the surrounding area on foot. There are several vantage points around the lake that provide stunning views, ideal for photography. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes, and bring water with you, as amenities are limited in this remote area.
