Car
If you're arriving by car, take I-84 East from Portland. Exit at 40 for Corbett and follow the signs toward the Historic Columbia River Highway. After exiting, turn left onto the Historic Columbia River Highway (also known as Highway 30). Continue on this road for about 3 miles until you see the signs for Wahkeena Falls. There is a parking area available at the trailhead. Note that there may be a parking fee, so be prepared with cash or a credit card.
Public Transportation
For public transportation, take the MAX Light Rail Blue Line from downtown Portland towards Hillsboro. Get off at the Gateway Transit Center and transfer to the Columbia Gorge Express (CGE) bus that operates seasonally. The CGE will take you to various stops along the Columbia River Gorge, including a stop near Wahkeena Falls. Check the CGE schedule for exact times and availability, as this service may not run daily. A round-trip fare on the CGE is approximately $10.
Hiking
Once you arrive at the Wahkeena Falls parking area, you'll find the trailhead for Wahkeena Trail #420. The hike to the falls is relatively easy and well-marked, making it suitable for all skill levels. The trail is approximately 0.2 miles to the viewpoint of the falls. Be sure to wear appropriate footwear and bring water, especially if you plan to continue hiking on the surrounding trails.
