Car
If you are driving, start from the center of Bend, Oregon. Head southwest on NW Wall St toward NW Franklin Ave. Continue on US-97 S for about 15 miles until you reach the Cascade Lakes Scenic Byway (also known as Century Drive). Turn left onto the Cascade Lakes Scenic Byway and continue for about 12 miles. Look for signs indicating Phil's Trailhead. The parking area will be on your right. There is no fee to park at Phil's Trailhead.
Public Transportation
While public transportation options are limited, you can take the Cascades East Transit bus from Bend to the Cascade Lakes Scenic Byway. Check their schedule for the latest information on routes and times. Once you arrive at the closest stop on the byway, you may need to walk approximately 1.5 miles to reach Phil's Trailhead. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes and carry water as the walk is through a forested area.
Biking
For those who enjoy cycling, you can bike to Phil's Trailhead from Bend. Rent a bike from a local shop in Bend and follow the same route mentioned for cars, but be sure to use designated bike lanes where available. It’s roughly a 12-mile ride from Bend to Phil's Trailhead. Ensure you have a helmet and plenty of water for the journey.
